Hi all.It has been quite a while since I was on here last. Mother in law has had to go into a home and is now quite poorly. We took delivery of a labrador puppy in September so life has been hectic. I hope the old RA is being kind to you all. Just a quick bit of advice as unable to get into doctors and appointments like gold dust. I have has a persistent cough and what I thought was about four separate nasty colds since September. The cough will not go away and now I am wondering if I am allergic to the dog? Looking on the internet it says if you have a low immune system (which I definitely do) then you can develop an allergic asthma. I know I need to see the doctor but wondered if anyone has anything similar?

Labs do tend to shed a lot of fur. My wife has developed a cough which we think may be an allergic reaction to ours. You could try some over the counter citerizine (anti-histamine) but it's really important you check with the pharmacist to make sure you have no contra-indications on your other meds.

If the anti-histamine helps you could ask your GP for a sensitivity test

Hi Jackie,

We have a lab and he joined our family from the age of 8 weeks, he's nearly 2. I've not experienced any problems with my immune system but things can effect us all differently!

I hope you get to see your doctor BigGrin

Louise.

Are you on Mtx? That can cause lung problems as can RA itself so it's important you get to the root cause of your cough. xx
